RAIDERS OF NOAH'S ARK

The Mountains of Ararat
"...and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest of the mountains of Ararat." --Genesis 8:4
Pilot Mountain and Sauratown Mountain were called Mount Ararat on the Jefferson-Fry map of this area below right.

You can see the three rivers New, Dan and Ararat that have their waters near each other on Groundhog Mountain in Patrick County.

The biblical Mountains of Ararat shown below (Big Ararat on the left and Little Ararat on the right) are in the middle eastern border land between modern Turkey, Armenia and Iran. "The name is related to Assyrian Uratu, which became an extensive and mountainous kingdom including much of the territory north of Mesopotamia and east of modern Turkey. The ark's landfall was probably in southern Uratu."

Raven Rock
"Noah opened the window he had made in the ark and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth." --Genesis 8:6
